Job Description
We are hiring an ambitious, forward-thinking and experienced BIM Coordinator to join our growing BIM team at our Manchester head office.
Our existing BIM teams are experts in the implementation of BIM on various projects and sectors of the construction industry for a huge number of our clients throughout all the RIBA stages.

We lead the BIM process at organisational, programme and project level through:
- Detailed analysis and understanding
- Project and programme BIM execution planning
- BIM implementation and information management
- BIM compliance checking and data verification/validation
Our technical BIM staff use cutting edge authoring, clash, validation and information management tools and techniques to deliver accurate and data-rich information models for our clients.
The Opportunity:
The individual will have the opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled team delivering and implementing BIM from project level for prestigious clients around the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist BIM Leader/Manager in BIM technology development
- Assist BIM Leader/Manager in BIM technology process review and implementation
- Liaise with IT and project teams to ensure functional and efficient hardware / software set-up
- Assist BIM Leader/Manager in authoring of UK BIM Framework project suit of documents
- Author BIM Objects and maintain shared resources in line with company standards
- Contribute/Assist leadership with company-wide Revit standards, information model management, and technical support to other Revit technicians
- Monitor and enforce compliance with BIM standards and project-specific requirements
- Perform regular audits of project information models, ensuring the accuracy of information models and datasets in line with project quality control procedures
- Validate information models against client level of information need
- Manage shared data and inter-model relationships
- Represent the team at interdisciplinary model coordination meetings
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary BIM projects according to the standards and internal company procedures
- Carry out clash detection in line with Project Information Protocols (PIP) workflows
- Assist BIM Leader/Manager with project / delivery team training workshops
- Set-up and manage CDE platforms in line with company protocols
- Assist with the management of cloud shared models and issues management workflows
- Leverage experience with Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo, Power BI and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
About You
You are digitally savvy, have great communication skills, are a team motivator and can build lasting relationships. You are degree qualified and have a good understanding of the UK BIM Framework. You will have an architectural background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities that AFL Architects have to offer. Being a Dynamo advanced user is an advantage and a willingness to learn is essential. BSI BIM qualifications or equivalent certification would be advantages but a commitment to work towards these is also acceptable.
BIM / Technology / Software:
- Up to date with the latest trends and an understanding of the emerging technology market that can support our design / implementation teams and clients
- A working knowledge of the standards which define Stage 2 to UK BIM Framework and a proven track record of project delivery to these standards
- Understanding of the functions and responsibilities relevant to a BIM enabled project
- A working knowledge of the creation and maintenance of key BIM documentation
- A proven track record of working with Common Data Environment (CDE) platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Aconex, Procore, Viewpoint, Asite, Conject etc...
- Advanced level working knowledge of Revit 3D modelling software
- A working knowledge of 3D model validation and clash detection software such as Solibri and Navisworks
- Advanced knowledge of IFC and COBie schemas
- Working knowledge of dashboard software such as Power BI and Tableau
- An understanding of Revit integration with Twinmotion and Navisworks for concept feasibility studies via Google Earth Pro
- An inquisitive nature to research and learn new software skills

Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in an architectural role
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience as a BIM Coordinator
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit (Architecture) with a solid understanding of its functionalities
- Practical knowledge of Navisworks, Dynamo, PowerBI and ACC
- A confident individual with excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit
- Proven ability to work on large projects within the UK BIM Framework
- BSI BIM qualifications or equivalent certification would be advantages but a commitment to work towards these is also acceptable
