Since its soft opening, the facility is already seeing around 1,000 patients per week, with a total of 5,885 diagnostic tests conducted since July. The Centre is part of Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) and offers a wide range of outpatient diagnostic tests, including x-rays, blood tests, ultrasounds, and CT scans. Patients can also undergo blood pressure and heart monitoring as part of the facility's comprehensive healthcare services.
The CDC, located in central Halifax, provides vital access to a variety of diagnostic services for the local community.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology and modern infrastructure, the new CDC offers both convenience and quality care.
Its central location, just a few minutes walk from Halifax Bus Station and near numerous car parks, ensures easy accessibility for patients from across the community.
Among those benefiting from the new Centre is 74-year-old Peter Cole, who visited the CDC twice in one week for diagnostic tests, including a CT scan. Reflecting on his experience, Peter said: “It all looks very nice – very fresh and new. Having a bus station close by is very convenient – I came on the bus today. It’s a totally different experience – in a good way!”
The AFL Architects team takes great pride in being part of this innovative project, which is at the forefront of transforming community-based healthcare.
By embedding diagnostic services directly within communities, the Halifax CDC plays a crucial role in easing the strain on hospitals, reducing waiting times, and improving patient access to care—bringing services closer to home.
As healthcare demands continue to grow, facilities like the Broad Street CDC are critical to the future of NHS services, ensuring that patients receive timely, high-quality care in a more accessible and community-focused setting. AFL Architects is honoured to have contributed to a project that is shaping the future of healthcare delivery.
