Meet Jack Morgan, our newest project architect at AFL Architects! Jack’s ready to dive into our exciting projects and bring his own design philosophy to the table. Check out the article below to learn more about Jack’s background, approach to design, and interests outside of the industry!

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background in architecture?

"I've had an interest in sports architecture since childhood, drawing imaginary stadiums when I wasn't watching or playing sport myself. I love sport and the role it plays both at a professional and community level. My first role at a sport-specific architecture practice was back in 2014, as an intern, and since then I've worked on sports venues in four continents. Most recently I spent four and a half years working on the Wimbledon Park Project for the AELTC."

How would you describe your approach or design philosophy?

"I believe good design is about balancing pragmatism with ambition. Sports venues, in particular, have a great physical, social and cultural presence, so I feel strongly that these buildings should be rooted in their context. I’m also particularly passionate about the provision of community sports infrastructure and believe that architects have a duty to promote ethical, sustainable and socially-responsible developments."

What's the most exciting thing about joining AFL for you?

I'm most looking forward to getting stuck into some really interesting projects for some exceptional clients. The opportunity to travel is exciting too!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Do you hobbies or interests that you’re passionate about?

I grew up watching football on the terraces, home and away, and still watch or play sport most weekends. My professional work is grounded in that experience. I enjoy playing football, golf, tennis and skiing!

Any other interesting facts or information about yourself?

I'm a qualified Rugby League match official.
